Taste of Georgetown

My roommates and I walked down to the waterfront for a Taste of Georgetown. We each bought 5 tickets which granted us 5 tasty treats from tons of restaurants, bakeries and catering companies around town. I had crimini mushroom tortellini, steak over cheddar & jalapeƱo cornbread, frozen hot chocolate, and a stack of baked goodies. Yummmmmmm! Definitely a new DC tradition!

Duke Date

Beautiful walk through Montrose Park with Duke this morning! The leaves are changing and the temperature is perfect!

Decorations are out!

I am all for getting into the Halloween spirit, but our neighbors are out of control. My roommates and I found this little lady on the walk to dinner last night. She was one of about 10 zombies posted up between cobwebs and their makeshift graveyard. Obviously I stopped for a picture.

Favorite Video Friday

Cutest. Thing. Ever.

These adorable Brits got over 7 million hits for their YouTube video cover of Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass".  Because of the hype, they were featured on Ellen this week where they were surprised by Nicki Minaj, herself!  Watch this little diva in action!

Here is the original video that went viral:

Happy Halloweenie!!!

It's official.  I will be dressing up as a Toddler in a Tiara for Halloween this year.  This photo is my inspiration.

I'll be searching for just the right neon dress so stayed tuned for pictures.  Cross your fingers I win GRAND SUPREME!!!

Sweet Treat

I can't stop snacking on these guys! Can't wait to pick up more fresh produce at the farmer's market this weekend!

Thank you, Keurig!

I attribute all productivity to this coffee magician! Pop in a K-cup (Donut Shop flavor is my go-to) and VOILA... The perfect amount of hot coffee!

DC Tradition

Since I moved to DC about two months ago, I've started a few traditions. One of my favorites is weekly fresh flowers! On Sundays, I brighten up my bedroom/home office with a bouquet of something sweet. This week it's mums from Trader Joes, only $4.99!

Benjamin Button

I am so excited for my new facial regimen by Kiehl's. I started it last night, and honestly felt a difference this morning (just like the label said). I am crossing my fingers for a Benjamin Button-ish effect!

Foods Of All Nations

Coolest store ever. An ice cold, glass bottle Coke and cheese straws takes me back to my Wingard's Pharmacy days in Greenwood.

HSC Weekend

Colin and I made a trip to his alma mater, Hampden Sydney College, for Homecoming weekend. He played in an alumni lacrosse game against the current team. They lost... Big time. I believe the final score was 17 - 6.

After the lacrosse game we hopped from tailgate to tailgate, and I thought I was walking through a Brooks Brothers ad. All of the students wore khaki pants, blue blazers and loafers. And how could I forget the bow ties. You couldn't tell you were at an all boys school from the number of girls in Lilly Pulitzer dresses and cowboy boots running around.

After shaking hands for a while we hitched a ride across campus to the fraternity houses. Each frat had a band on the deck with a dance floor and of course MORE blazers bow ties. Overall it was a fun weekend: beautiful weather, delicious tailgate food and cocktails, fun with friends and a win for HSC!

Duke knows.

For those of you who don't know Duke, you obviously don't know me very well. Duke is my sidekick, my right hand man, my shadow... You get the picture. He's the coolest pup I know.

He's also the laziest pup I know. His normal routine consists of sleeping on his donut bed (pictured in blog logo) and an occasional walk to his food bowl. But today is different because i think Duke knows I'm going out of town. He has been following me and moping around the house all day and is glued to my lap at this very moment. I think he might need antidepressants to help with his separation anxiety. Can dogs really be depressed?

Starting off on the wrong foot...

The purpose of my new blog is to share all my favorite things with you (hence the name LaurieLikey)!

But it seems we've started off on the wrong foot... Or shall I say boot?! That's right, the DC Parking Enforcement team pulled a fast one. They planted an ugly orange boot on my car and a warning notice on the windshield. (Notice my plea for help on the note, "Don't tow pls!")

I paid the tickets online, and the boot is to be removed today. Let's just hope this isn't a preview of future posts, or I'll be forced to change the name to LaurieNOLikey!
